Frequently asked questions
Answers to the questions I hear most. Anything else, just ask during your free consult.
01 — GETTING STARTED
-
It's a 15-minute call to hear what's going on, answer your questions and see whether we're a good fit. If I'm not the right person, I'll help point you toward someone who is.
-
Openings are limited. Book a free consult and I'll share current availability. If I can't see you soon enough, I'll help you find someone who can.
-
Yes. You'll work with me from the first call. There's no intake coordinator or handoff to another clinician.
-
All sessions are by secure video. You'll need to be physically located in California or New York at the time of each session.
02 — COST AND INSURANCE
-
Sessions are $260 for 50 minutes, and the 15-minute consult is free. Full details are on the Rates page.
-
I'm out of network and provide monthly superbills you can submit for possible reimbursement. My insurance call worksheet walks you through checking your benefits. I'm also a Lyra Health provider. If your employer offers Lyra, you may qualify for a limited number of free sessions, and we'll check your eligibility during your free consult.
03 — MY APPROACH
-
Reproductive and hormonal transitions affect mood in specific ways. A specialist knows what's common, what may need medical follow-up, and which approaches work best during pregnancy, postpartum and perimenopause.
-
No. I work with women at every stage of life, including women who are childfree, undecided, or well past the early parenting years.
-
No. As a psychologist, I don't prescribe. If medication could help, I'll coordinate with your OB, primary care doctor or psychiatrist, or help you find a medication provider.
-
Most clients start weekly and move to every other week as things improve. We'll decide together.
-
Yes, with a few limits required by law, such as when someone's safety is at risk. I'll walk you through these in our first session.
-
My practice isn't set up for emergencies. If you're in crisis, call or text 988, or call 911. For support during pregnancy or after a baby, the National Maternal Mental Health Hotline is available 24/7 at 1-833-852-6262, and the Postpartum Support International HelpLine is at 1-800-944-4773.
